Hall Cosplay (Craftsmanship)

Hall Cosplay (Craftsmanship) Contest

Show off your self-made cosplay before our panel of experienced judges, explain how you made it and what you love about it. No walk-on or skit is required, just come to the Contest Room on Sunday 11:00-13:00 for a chat with our judges and we'll take a photo. Prizes will be awarded at Closing Ceremonies for winners and runners up in Expert, Journeyman, Novice and Prop-making categories. Please note you have to have made at least 80% of your costume or prop yourself.

You may know this contest as the Hall Cosplay Contest, Hall Masquerade or more accurately Cosplay Craftsmanship Contest. Judges are interested in how you made your costume, what you used, how neat your construction is and how accurate the end result is. If you can tell them why you chose your character that's also good to hear.

1. Contest Format

  • 1.1 Contestants should come to the Contest Room (7-184) in person on Sunday 11:00-13:00 to be judged. It would be helpful to bring reference photos of your character so the judges can judge your accuracy, photos can be on your phone.
  • 1.2 Each contestant will be asked to fill out a short form and assigned a number. You can fill out the form online ahead of the event if you wish to save time.
  • 1.3 Forms will be collected and contestants called up to the judging table in numerical order to be interviewed.
  • 1.4 Contestants waiting to be judged may stay in the Contest Room or return later if there's a long wait. However if you leave you may miss your turn if you don't return in a timely fashion. If the room becomes crowded we may have to ask non-contestants or those who have already been judged to leave.
  • 1.5 When called, a contestant will pose for a photo holding their number and then have a short chat with the judges about their cosplay. We have to keep things brief to give everyone a fair chance but we'll do our best to let you explain important details. Contestants will not be asked to perform.
  • 1.6 The judges will make notes and then you are free to leave the room.
  • 1.7 The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony. Contestants must be on hand to accept the awards.
