A Taste of Animethon will be moving locations and will take place entirely at:

Hours of Operation

  • Registration/Info: 9:00AM to 11:00PM
  • Programming: 10:00AM to 12:00AM
  • Dance: 9:00PM to 1:00AM


  • $20 event pass
  • Children 12 and under get in FREE (Must be born after Jan 26, 2000 and accompanied by an adult)
Admission includes access to all programming events including the Dance, Games Room and the Vendor's Room.

Note: All passes must be purchased day-of. There will be no online or mail-in admission sales for ATOA.


Bus Route Map So that everyone can stay for the Dance and nighttime programming and still get home safe, we will be providing ETS bus service that will travel from the Ramada Conference Center Downtown to Corona Station Downtown in Edmonton.

The chartered bus will start at 9:30 PM and run every half hour until the last bus leaves the Ramada at 12:30 am.

The bus ride is free to all attendees and to catch the bus all you need to do is come to the North Main entrance to the Ramada (next to the ball room the dance will be in) and wait until instructed to board the bus.

Event Parking

Parking Map There is a 500-700 stall parking lot in the back of the hotel where you can park for FREE for the entire event. See map for exact location.

Coat Check

We will be running a FREE Coat Check for the event (Event Pass holder only) where you can drop off your coat for the duration of the event.

Hours: 8am to 1am.
Acceptable Items: Coats and Jackets

*Note: small bags may be accepted at staff’s discretion as long as they do not contain any valuables

Anime Cafe

Hunger and want a place to go rest and chat with fellow fans, we got you covered in the Anime Cafe! That right, the event's very own cafeteria and rest stop featuring a place to sit and eat right inside the hotel so you don't have to miss a thing or go outside in the cold.

The hotel will have a concession stand setup from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm all day long (exact times subject to change) and will be serving breakfast items in the morning and lunch/dinner items in the afternoon.

Featured items will include:
  • Morning: Egg Muffins, Cheese and plain beagles, Muffins, coffee/Tea and more
  • Lunch/Dinner: Hamburgers, Pizza. Fries, Hot dogs, Sandwiches/Wraps, Fruit Cups, Salad, Corn Dogs, Juice, water and other assorted items
  • AND of course POCKY all day long!
ALSO, the hotel will be having a concession stand at the Dance featuring light meals and snack as well.


T-Shirt Behold, the A Taste of Animethon T-shirts! They feature a front and back print of our mascot, Nishi, catching some brisk winter air. Limited quantities will be sold next to the registration desk at the event for $20. Available in black, turquoise and purple.

The above quoted guestroom rates are subject to 5% GST, 4% Hotel Tax, and 1% Destination Marketing Fee for a total of 10% taxes. Prevailing taxes and fees are subject to change. Rates are quoted in Canadian Dollars.

Guests preferring to pay with cash and do not have a credit card will be asked to show photo ID and leave a $100 deposit at check-in. In addition, the room and tax for all booked room nights will be required. The deposit less incidentals will be refunded at check-out with completion of a guestroom check.

Our History

Animethon started back in 1994 by the Banzai Anime Klub of Alberta (BAKA), with the intent of promoting Japanese anime. It became a success by presenting well-known and more obscure anime to audiences, and has since grown to what it is now. Today, Animethon is presented by the not-for-profit Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts (ASAPA).

In the beginning, Animethon was a one-day event that allowed people to view different Japanese Anime movies and television shows within two classrooms at Grant MacEwan. Since Animethon 2, the festival has grown to utilize the entirety of the University campus for events, artist alley, education panels, and a large vendor hall. As such, the steady increase of numbers in attendees to Animethon has allowed for various vendors to expose themselves to a unique group of people both young and old.

A Taste of Animethon was first created in 2010. While nowhere near the size of Animethon itself it's been a successful event in it's own right with a steadily growing attendance. We hope that this year's event will be just as successful.
